IE6 usage drops, IE8 become the first!

The web browser usage of Google Chrome has surpassed Apple Safari in December 2009, in January 2010, the most notable change in web browser usage statistics is that, the Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) is no longer the most common.

According to Net Applications, the first one is Internet Explorer (IE) and the second is Mozilla Firefox, each slipped a bit compared to December 2009.

IE drops from 62.7% to 62.2%, and Firefox drops 24.6% to 24.4%. Chrome rose from 4.6% to 5.2%, and Safari stayed level at about 4.5%.

Google Chrome 5 will puts in more settings options

Google has just updated its Chrome browser’s developer’s builds (dev. channel) to version 5 for Windows and Mac in few days ago, and was expected to push version 5 out to the public before the end of this month.

Control the Content

The new version number of Google Chrome comes with a number of bug fixes and some new features as well.

In version 5, the Content Settings window being introduced, which can be found inside the Options menu, with in-depth tweaks for cookies, images, JavaScript, plug-ins (not the Extensions), and pop-ups.

Tabbed Chat Window

For those who have been using any 3rd party plugin with tabbed chat window function, soon you can no need that plugin anymore.

The tab size is so big, don’t you think so? It is almost the same like tabs in IE7 and IE8, but it seems larger.

Chrome surpassed Safari in web browser usage

The newly exiting web browser, Google Chrome, has been surpassed Safari for share of worldwide usage in December 2009.

4.63 percent vs. 4.48 percent

Compare to November 2009, Google Chrome jumped from 3.9 percent to 4.6 percent of usage in December 2009, according to statistics that analytics firm Net Applications publishes based on the 160 million monthly visitors to the network of Web sites using its services.
