What is Visual Search?

Visual Search is newly brought to you by Bing, Bing’s new Visual Search feature was announced today as a beta during the TechCrunch50 conference.
Note: This new feature is not part of the Bing 2.0.
Visual Search is a new way to formulate and refine your search queries through images, particularly for sets of results that tend to be more structured. You can search without memorizing any keywords!
A study conducted by Microsoft Research shows that consumers can process results with images 20% faster than text only results. So it’s clear that images play a big part in helping consumer’s with a variety of search activities.

How to use Visual Search?
Simply go to www.bing.com/visualsearch and install Silverlight if you don’t have it. What you’ll see is an amazing new visual search experience. (If you get a “page not found” error, please change the language to US English.)
In this beta, there are total 39 Visual Search Galleries available, for example:
- Movies in theaters

- Handbags

- Popular books

- New cars

- and more galleries!
Narrow The Results By Using Filters
Visual Search allows you to quickly scroll through the galleries or do a one-click refinement using the quick tabs on the left, which are specifically relevant to the type of results you are browsing through.
Using the Top iPhone Apps Gallery as an example, you can narrow down the results by showing the top 10 free, newest, most expensive, or filtering with the category, price, and also publisher, it will quickly displaying the filtered results to you after each single filter added or removed!
